Why Indy CPR?
You might save a life!

Indy CPR was founded in 2009 out of a passion for helping people. Matt Hahn joined the Indianapolis fire department 12 years ago. Matt is often called to cardiac arrest fire runs and has seen people young and old, healthy and not healthy all with one thing in common- these people needed help and it was a matter of life or death. Below are a few examples of how CPR has saved precious lives.

A 6 year old boy is playing and stops breathing and goes into cardiac arrest. No one knows CPR. By the time the fire department & EMS get there it is too late. The American Heart Association states that 92% of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. Immediate CPR can double or even triple their chance of survival.

October 9, 2003. A young couple with newborn twins has a quiet morning at home. The husband is working from home. His wife feeds the babies and tells her husband that she is going to take a quick shower. The wife hears a muffled cry when she gets out of the shower. She decides to check on the babies just to be safe. She finds their 3 month old infant in full cardiac arrest & screams for help.

The husband sprints into the room and tells his wife to call 911. He performs CPR for three minutes with no response; another minute goes by. The child’s heart starts to beat and his daughter finally begins to breathe. Firefighters arrive on the scene- it more than likely would have been too late if CPR had not been performed minutes prior.

Matt performed CPR on his infant daughter and saved her life. Matt does not just teach CPR but has lived the benefit of knowing firsthand the importance of CPR.
